Gay bars in rehoboth beach

The Renegade

A once popular gay bar, restaurant, and resort at the Delaware beaches.
1980-2003, 4274 Coastal Highway, Rehoboth Beach, DE

The Renegade was a restaurant, bar, dance club, and social center of the LGBTQ+ community of Rehoboth Beach for three decades. While the Renegade was not the first bar to serve Queer people in Rehoboth, its impact on the people was massive and enduring. It grew over the years to also movie a two-story dance floor, pool and deck, cabaret room, and motel units to provide overnight accommodations to guests. The Renegade initially served mostly men, but as more homosexual people began vacationing in Rehoboth, the patrons diversified to include more women and transgender people.

The Renegade opened decades after closeted queer people from nearby Washington D.C. had begun vacationing in “The Nation’s Summer Capital,” unofficially kicking off Rehoboth Beach’s prolonged queer history. As the city saw an raise in queer visitors and residents in the 1970s, Washington D.C. business owner, Glen Thompson, wanted to serve the growing group by opening a ga

Update: i had a bad trial last time. Today i came with some local friends to have a good time. But soon after they scan my id a guy at the door said that i can't get in because of my criticism last time!?People apply fake name/account to post negative reviews, i don't, because it is what actually happens and I don't observe why hiding my identity if it's true.-----13 months ago-----Horrible service!! Didn't realize the bar closes at 1am in Delaware, I was sitting near their outdoor porta potty waiting for ally to finish his business in there, the guy who clean up the table came to me with some attitudes and rude, instead of telling me they're closing nicely, he was simply tell me you can't settle there, you gotta go, because that particular table is not one of those the smoking tables and i need to depart now, so i ask him we're at the outdoor area and I pointed groups of people that were still sitting, smoking and chatting proximate me. He told me that those tables few feet away from me are the smoking tables, so i say ok, then I'll just take our drinks and move over, and he replied no, and said that he had already cleaned those tables, you either guzzle up or

Rehoboth Beach: tiny and tempting

It can’t be easy to name a place. Like a baby, how can you possibly know what your town will actually become? In this case, the founders of Rehoboth Beach got it right. “Rehoboth,” as its biblical origins reflect, is a “place for all.” Within the one-square-mile confines, the residents have created a warm and inviting seaside community where homos can perceive at home.

Rehoboth Beach is quaint. Like 1,500-people-during-off-season quaint. It’s a grower, not a shower. When the weather warms, the beaches and tree-lined streets fill with people, many from Baltimore, Philadelphia, and Washington D.C. If you’re looking for sex, sex, and sex, this isn’t the place. People go there for tranquility, not a piece. Which is not to say it can’t be found; it can always be found.

The small-town Rehoboth is low-key. You’ll find a diverse collective that enjoys the things you miss in a big municipality. As you walk along the always-lively Boardwalk, you’ll notice how the attractions seem to ebb with joy. Spendthrifts and huge spenders both find the shops and restaurants to fit their needs. If you really long to shop, find your way to Route 1 and the outlet malls. A reminder
