CHIPPENDALES DANCER COMES OUT

Jaymes Vaughan

Jaymes Vaughan, a dancer with the Chippendales erotic male revue, has become one of the few Chippendales to come out as gay to the public.

Vaughan, who also sings and emcees for the revue’s Las Vegas shows, told QVegas Magazine in December that he had only recently come out to his family.

He also hosted Las Vegas Pride in September last year, all of which, he said, made him decide to be more open about his sexuality.

“Hosting Gay Event in Las Vegas this year, it was the first time I ‘got it.’”, said Vaughan. “I got up on stage and finally understood what ‘pride’ was about. It’s about being proud of yourself and encouraging other people to be haughty of themselves.”

He added: “The best, most reassuring thing that happened to me at Pride this year: when I came off stage, a little 12 year old boy came up to me and said ‘I want to do what you do.’ And I was prefer, that was all I wanted when I was a kid. I wanted someone to look up to.”

In 2008, dancer Brandon Pereyda become the first Chippendale to come out as gay in an interview with Instinct m

In this era of inclusion, how welcome are men at various male stripper shows?

Back in 1985, John Travolta played a Rolling Stone reporter in the semi-fictional drama Ideal. Assigned to cover the singles scene in Los Angeles, Travolta finds himself attending a male revue (save the jokes for later). Interestingly, he is forced to monitor the proceedings from behind a screen. According to Laraine Newman’s character, men are forbidden from attending the demonstrate (a thinly-disguised Chippendales).

That was 35 years ago. These days, you’re as likely to see men in the audience as on the stage. I can say that from experience, as these shows are one of my favorite things to perform when in Sin City. And they’re an absolute balls-to-the-wall blast!

While I be present as an openly gay man, not every guy in the audience is homosexual. It’s worth pointing out that women of all persuasions have been attending topless revues for decades, and that has always been acceptable.

As we gravitate towards an era of occupied inclusion, the lines of sexuality hold blurred. But that doesn’t mean that men will obtain the same level of welcome and interactivity at each and every

“Welcome to Chippendales” tells a success story gone wrong

“Welcome to Chippendales” is the juicy, entertaining true-crime story of how Somen “Steve” Banerjee opened and operated the world-famous male strip club for ladies — and how it all went south. This 8-episode limited series on HULU begins November 22 with the first two episodes,. New episodes will be dropping weekly through January 3.

The show recounts how Somen (Kumail Nanjiani) went from managing a gas station to renaming himself “Steve” and opening a nightclub in Los Angeles. Steve’s first initiative is a backgammon club that failed to draw customers. However, after self-proclaimed club promoter Paul Snider (Dan Stevens) and his girlfriend Dorothy Stratten (Nicola Peltz Beckham) hike in, Steve asks for their aide. Although various gimmicks from mudwrestling to an oyster-eating competition fail to lure customers, when the trio go out to a male lover club, Steve gets the idea to turn the room into a male strip club for women.

Finding a bunch of guys willing to take their clothes off is not a great challenge, nor is finding women to pay to monitor them. The club, renamed Chippendales — after the cabinet maker, to donate it cl

Jaymes Vaughan has lead an appealing life. He has circled the globe on Amazing Race and as host of the Chippendales World Tour. He is first openly gay member of this sexy stage show. The Chippendales are taking over Tulalip Resort and Casino tonight. The exhibit is completely sold out but Jaymes gave us some period in his busy schedule.

Earle Dutton: You have been interviewing a lot of celebrities lately, enjoy Joan Collins and Robin Leach. Who was your favorite so far?
Jaymes Vaughan: I detest to just pick one because it kind of makes me seem like a jerk but Susan Lucci was amazing. The timing of that interview was awesome. I interviewed her the week that my episode of The Young & The Restless was on the air. It was so cool to interview the Queen of Soap Operas the week of my soap opera debut. I got her input and her advice on how to make a career out of it. She was just so cool to complete the interview in the first place but to also hold time out of the interview to speak about me and my career. She is a very cool lady. She taught me how to slap and everything.
